Jet lag has its charms. I'm fully immersed in it.
It puts every moment in soft focus. And of course it's not just physiological: there is an intellectual jet lag, a kind of 'perceptive lag', where you 1st see everything in terms of what you know until you form a feel for the new place on its own terms; this can take a considerably longer time than physical adjustment and perhaps some adjustments take so long that they might be impossible.
I wonder when one has the right to trust one's opinion about a place that was once unknown, compared with the opinion of someone say born into that place? But it's a false question: there are variant opinions for those rooted as much as for those landed. Some opinions and variants simply work, and give you richer experiences and some don't. Any factors such as depth of roots or time spent are simply suggestions not determining factors. One can after all be a stranger even to oneself. Or, conversely one can have a flash of insight at any moment--and possibly not know it.
